Well, well what do we have here an Al Queda initiated plot to blow up in mid-flight some 20 aircraft using liquid explosives? Looks like the number two man of Al Queda and the junior chemists are at it again? But one might say how can we trust the authorities, as every time there is a vote coming up to keep the War on Terror going another plot is foiled or thwarted (don't you just love that word?).
This time the authorities have uped the ante and claimed that up to 20 aircraft may have been involved. It is no wonder that folks are not readily believing this International Terrorist Plot, many are saying it is bogus and that the so-called plot is based on limited and questionable knowledge.
Authorities assure us all that this is the real thing and therefore we need to be on alert. Perhaps this is a bit of public mistrust and past propaganda from the mass media hysteria. Nevertheless, with all the chaos and controversy in the world these days it stands to reason that indeed those who hate us are plotting against us as they hide in broad daylight amongst the masses.
It makes sense to be on our guard against International Terrorism and it is good to see that the authorities are doing a decent job of foiling these plots. But we must be honest with ourselves and not be so hastily rounding up the usual suspects or making things out to be more than they really are. Please consider this not as a political commentary, but rather as a philosophical conversation.
